Making Disciples

Capitol Ministries exists to make disciples of Jesus Christ in the political arena throughout the world

We are evangelistic Bible teachers and missionary-pastors called to the very nerve centers of culture – the capitols of the world. We are not lobbyists or lawyers. We are ministers on a mission: “Changing hearts to change a nation.”

Perry Gauthier

Vice President, Nebraska Capitol Ministries

North American Director Perry Gauthier, his wife Faith, and their team labor to bring the Gospel of Jesus Christ to political leaders in Nebraska and the other 49 Capitols of the United States. The founder of Pennsylvania, William Penn said, “Governments, like clocks, go from the motions men give them…”.

Capitol Ministries operates under the belief that if one can affect the heart of the lawmaker, the laws themselves will be affected. As a ministry, we strive to evangelize, minister to, and prayerfully intercede on behalf of politicians.

About CapitOl Ministries

Capitol Ministries has a B.H.A.G. (Big, Hairy, Audacious Goal)! Our B.H.A.G. is to deliver the Gospel to every public servant in every Capitol every year! Since our founding in 1996, our vision has not changed. We evangelize elected officials, leading them to maturity in Christ. We disentangle from politics so that we might disciple leaders whom God calls into the political arena.

Our Mission

A Movement for Christ among Nebraska’a Leaders: A Four-Phase Strategy

Capitol Ministries has a four-phase strategy for reaching the leaders of Nebraska with the gospel of Jesus Christ. With the Lord’s help, we can change Nebraska one heart at a time. Will you please consider partnering in the important work?

Phase 1: The State Capitol Community

Establish a Christ-centered discipleship ministry among the leaders serving in the three branches of state government in Nebraska: The Legislature, Executive and Judicial branches. In all, when key staff and lobbyists are added, we are seeking the deliver the gospel to 772 people each year.

Legislators: 49, Constitutional Officers: 6, Supreme Court and lower courts: 131, Key staff, lobbyists and others: 586 (est.)

Phase 3: The Local Government Community

The local government community of Nebraska is a training ground for future state and federal leaders. Making disciples among these people is critical. We have a long-term, detailed strategy for reaching the 4,924 men and women who lead on the local level.

County Supervisors: 415 (93 counties), City/Town Council Members: 2985 (est.) (597 cities/towns), School Board Members: 1524 (est.) (254 School Boards)

Phase 2: The U.S. Congress Members and Federal Judges

Develop a ministry among those who are representing Nebraska as United States Senators, House members, and federal judges, by ministering to them in Nebraska, and also in Washington D.C. In phase two we seek to reach 78 federal leaders.

U.S. Senators: 2, U.S. House members: 3, Federal Judges: 19, Key staff for these leaders: 54 (est.)

Phase 4: The International Political Community

We intend to bring Nebraska’s Christian leaders with us on short-term missions trips to foreign capitals in order to launch full-time ministry works abroad – making disciples of foreign leaders.
